The party found the corpse of a man nailed to a tree in the woods, southeast of Serdeil. They decided to investigate.

The man is Garron Pell, a druid who lived a secluded life in the woods. He sometimes interacted with the villagers, particularly Branimir providing him alchemical ingredients in exchange for other materials (leather and brass mostly).

He was tortured because he knows the location of one of the Barrier Stones that is somewhere in the forest. This stone is one of the things preventing the Dread March from entering into Salaraan in a bigger capacity.

2	Journal of Bark-Pages	A crude book stitched with twine; pages made from bark. Contains observations: animals fleeing one glade, fungi spreading unnaturally fast, stars "missing" from the night sky.
3	Pouch of Spores	A small leather pouch with dried black fungi. If cast into a fire, the spores release ghostly silhouettes of trees and figures — one of his druidic ways of "recording" memory.
4	Stone Map Fragment	A flat stone shard etched with ley-line markings. Part of a larger map of the forest. One edge is broken, as if torn away.
5	Charm of Protection	A crude necklace of bones and feathers. Detect Magic reveals faint abjuration — protection from scrying. Now cracked and inert.
6	Bloodstained Wooden Staff	Simple, but with carved sigils spiraling up the length. Still sticky with dried blood — looks like the scouts used it to beat him. If mended, it can function as a +1 Quarterstaff.
7	Bundle of Sealed Herbs	Dried plants bound in wax cloth. Strong odor when unwrapped. A rare mix used to dull pain in rituals — or perhaps to endure torture.
8	Scratched Warning Stone	A flat rock carried in his pouch, with frantic druidic runes scratched on its surface. They translate to: "The seal weakens — beware the hollow beneath the roots."
